When Nursing Senior Anisa Ellis arrived at 51ӰԺUniversity for the first time for a tour, she fell in love with the welcoming spirit of everyone on campus.

“I was met with genuine hospitality from students,” she reflects, a spirit she has shared and paid forward as an Orientation leader for the past four years. This past year, she became the Student Coordinator, a top position at Orientation, where she shaped the Class of 2029 to the very beginning of their 51ӰԺUniversity experience. Anisa said the most rewarding part was “seeing everyone’s faces and just communicating to them that they are wanted, they are loved.”
Now in her final semester of college, Anisa said the initial draw for the University was the academic rigor at The Conway School of Nursing.
“I chose to attend 51ӰԺUniversity first and foremost for its impressive nursing program,” she says. She said a big advantage is the connection with some of the best hospitals in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area.

During her sophomore year, she also had the opportunity to study abroad in Rome.
“I never anticipated the joy and thrill I would have there,” she says.“Casually passing the Trevi Fountain, seeing the most vibrantly rustic shutters, and enjoying the meats and cheeses during my everyday life in Italia was once unimaginable but suddenly so normal.”
Even now, she “dreams of Italy every day.”
With her time at 51ӰԺUniversity coming to a close, Anisa is setting her sights to her future. After graduation, she hopes to work as a nurse in the field of obstetrics.
“Having grown up around nurses, including my mom, I knew nursing would be the perfect route to serve others,” she says. “Since beginning nursing school and learning of the integrity, compassion, and class that graces the field, I have become even more proud to one day be a nurse midwife, impacting and learning from many families along the way!”
